AHSAA PARTNERS WITH R&B Media Group

MONTGOMERY – The Alabama High School Athletic Association and R&B Media Group have partnered to form the AHSAA Radio Network. AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese announced the agreement Wednesday.

R&B Media, LLC, located in Dadeville, will produce the radio network coverage for major AHSAA events including the Super 6 Football Championships and the State Basketball Tournament’s semifinals and finals.

Randy Lee and Brett Pritchard are co-owners of R&B Media. The duo currently produce two weekly television shows, Sports Blitz Live and Sports Blitz Outdoors. They also produce and co-host two radio shows: Sports Blitz Saturday Countdown and Sports Blitz Overtime. In addition, R&B Media hold the rights to the Wildcat Football Network, the broadcasting arm for Benjamin Russell High School Athletics in Alexander City.

“I am truly excited to announce this partnership,” Savarese said. “Brett and Randy are wanting to do this for all the right reasons. They have an impressive track record and a vast experience dealing with high sports and radio. I am impressed with the way they conduct themselves.

“This is a very positive step to better serve the schools of the AHSAA and the children of this state.”

The agreement paves the wave for R&B Media to develop a statewide radio network and will also help promote the AHSAA on a weekly basis through AHSAA Update reports and other special promotions. The agreement was brokered by the AHSAA’s marketing partner, Alabama Sports Foundation.

"First of all let me say what an honor it is to be partnered with the AHSAA,” said Pritchard, “(The AHSAA) does so much for young men and women throughout the state of Alabama, and I feel very fortunate to be part of that now.

“As a broadcaster, I feel that this statewide network will give everyone who is passionate about high school athletics an opportunity to be closer to all the high schools in the state. I can't really express how humbled I am to be able to bring the play-by-play of AHSAA Championships to everyone.”

Pritchard is beginning his 10th year as coordinator of public and high school relations at Central Alabama Community College. He also serves CACC as sports information director. A 1997 graduate of Auburn University, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and a Masters in English.

Lee is also the owner Lee Apparel, LLC and Spiral Athletic, LLC, located in Dadeville, and is a 1996 graduate of Benjamin Russell High School. He graduated from Auburn University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business, and a minor in Spanish. Lee is currently in his fourth season as color commentator for Benjamin Russell High School Football.

"It is truly an honor to be chosen to partner with the AHSAA to bring the radio and online coverage of AHSAA Championships and All Star events,” Lee said. “I truly have a passion for high school athletics which I feel plays a key role in the education of our young men and women throughout the state of Alabama.

“The AHSAA has a vision to grow the coverage of high school athletics throughout the state, and I look forward to playing a role in this expansion."
